Happy Friyay dolls! Thank you so much for all the love in my last post! I am so touched that you guys appreciate the candor and I continue to keep this type of transparency when it comes to communicating with you all. On to today’s style topic! Unless you’ve been living somewhere with no internet and access to any fashion magazines you will note that Ruffles are taking over the who industry! Whether it is the ruffled hems on pants, or tiered ruffle sleeve blouse to the ruffle off shoulder top that almost every fashionista is wearing, it is exploding!
Honestly, I am not a girlie girl and I used to despise the style. But, like some trends, the more you see it, the more it starts to grow on you. I’m not saying that I will be ruffling all my outfits, but with the correct styling, it can turn a top from “Meh” to ‘Wow”. I’ll show you guys a few styling tips I do to without looking too girly.
- Keep the rest of the outfit simple. When you are wearing a ruffled sleeves top or tiered collar, there are so much going on visually, you don’t want to wear super colorful bottoms. Skinny jeans, or black pants or monochrome skirts usually goes with well.
- Avoid the Top Heavy pit fall. I know you all are going to say “wait aren’t we keeping outfits simple?” Yes, while the rest of our outfits should be simple, you can balance the large amount of fabric and material up top with a pair of eye catching shoes. Statement heels or boots will help balance the visuals and you don’t look like a match stick.
- Wear ruffles according to your body shape. Let’s face it, not every one can rock ruffles, but wear it correctly to your body shape can save you some woes. If you have a triangle shaped body or large sets of boobies, avoid ruffle tops, this will only exaggerate your assets more. On the other hand, if you are pear shaped or have some curves, don’t try the ruffle skirts…(unless you are trying to draw attention) as it would make you look even fuller and wider.
I hope these styling tips help you decide whether the ruffle trend is right for you, try out a few tops at your local department store before committing to purchase them. See which hot ruffle styles work for you best, be it the ruffle tiered sleeves or ruffle collar necks or even ruffled skirts because I can assure you that there will only be more of them in the coming Spring and Summer. I just ordered a few more tops with ruffle embellishments so stay tuned to see how I style each.
