Since the majority of the country (with a few minor exceptions like LA), we are officially in Fall, experiencing cooler temperatures and dressing the part. Today, we are going to talk about some very big trends that I have spotted as of late. Velvet + Dark Florals!!! Read here, you will be seeing them everywhere and I’m here to give you some styling tips on what to wear, how to wear and key pieces that you should have in your closet.
You probably noticed that velvet was a major theme on the Fall 2016 runway, popping up in shows of major designer and fashion houses like Balmain, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney even from sportier names Lacoste, Tibi and Jason Wu. As expected, velvet is showing up on A-list bloggers and social media queens Kendall, Kylie and Gigi via forms of blazer, pants and boots and will soon be gracing every fashionista bloggers. Velvet is no longer couch fabrics but a very happening trend on and off the runway.
Velvet Blazers + Jackets: These make a great statement and adds an element of luxe to your typical blazer and jackets. Think rich dark colors for blazers and light playful hues for a bomber jacket. See my picks below:
Velvet Tops and Bottoms: Velvet pants ruled the runway, but can be tricky to wear. Stick with darker hues to avoid looking frumpy. I always love a rick velvety blouse or bodysuit. It is easy to wear with skinny jeans or tucked into a midi skirt.
Velvet Shoes and Booties: Shoes are a great way to sneak a little velvet trend into your wardrobe without going out of your way to make the trend work. Ever since I posted these blue velvet boots on my Insta, I’ve been getting a ton of compliments and questions of what brand they are and where to buy. Have no fear, they are listed below!
So we’ve covered some of the velvet trends, next up is dark florals. you might have seen posts titled “How to wear floral in Fall” and its the perfect way to describe the transition between pastels to rich fall pantone colors. During NYFW, countless fashion bloggers have already demonstrated this beautiful trend. See some great examples from your favorite bloggers below:
Floral Tops & Blouses: Floral blouses are easy to wear with a pair of skinny or flared jeans. But my personal styling favorite is with a solid colored mini or midi skirt. Either ankle bootie or OTK would look great with these options.
Floral Dresses: Dark floral dresses is pretty much a staple for fall. Whether you wear it with boots, heels or even sneakers, you can’t go wrong. Throw on a leather cropped jacket or a faux suede vest as a layer, everything goes with this versatile and pretty trend.
Last week’s most clicked on outfit was a tie between this chic Minimal Look from Oby Grace and this Dreamy Dress Shannon wore. Two different styles but both equally beautiful. Be sure to check out their blogs.
