The week in NYC seemed surreal with two kids; although it seemed crazy to keep both kids and ourselves on LA time throughout this entire trip, (i.e. bed time for kids at 11pm, we went to bed at 1:30am) we were able to successfully get them painlessly through any jetlags. During the day we did family activities such as going to FAO Schwartz, visit the Natural History Museum and stroll around in Central Park, husband and I managed to sneak away for some alone time and enjoy a little fine dining NYC has to offer. One of those evening is a wonderful dinner at Jean Georges in Columbus Circle.
I was super excited to try this Michelin 3 star establishment after getting recommendations from foodie friends locally in NY and in LA. It is a bit more stiff (jackets required at the for formal dining room) but the ambiance and tasting menu experience made up for it…besides, I’m always up for a little dressy occasion. The customer service was superb, the entire time we were dining didn’t feel rushed though the restaurant was constantly busy and we had an early seating. As for the food, I will let the photos speak for itself for our multi-course tasting menu at Jean Georges.
In terms of my fashion choice for this date night with husband, I decided on a girly ruffle mini look. I have mentioned before on the blog, I’m pretty big on packing light and packing smart so I like to plan ahead and make multiple use of the things I’m packing. Since I knew in advance that we will have two nights of formal dining, I packed a silk Zara halter top and paired it with a skirt that is both light weight and not easily wrinkled for one evening and my jogger pants for the other (I will show case it in another post).
