They say that the eyes are windows to your soul. A pair of sparkly, expressive eyes are so important to let people know how you look and feel. Today I’m going to talk all about eye creams and serum and gels that can help you look younger, less dark circles and puffiness and overall more radiant. Let’s dive right in to the All About Eyes review.
Let’s start off with a heavy hitter – The Eye Concentrate from La Mer. Known for luxury skin care, this concentrated eye cream from LaMer is a cult favorite as well as a personal favorite. This eye cream is my ride or die because it really works wonders. Take a quick read of all the reviews on the blog and everyone raves about it. Packed with the ingredients found in their trademarked miracle broth, the deeply emollient treatment hydrates and softens the look of lines for a smooth, healthy appearance. Fortified with an iron-rich mineral, the Eye Concentrate dramatically dissolves the appearance of dark circles. Though I’m not personally plagued with this problem, but many users claim that it dissolves milia growth under the eyes.
The Eye Concentrate comes with a specially-engineered, silver-tipped applicator which helps cool the skin. I like to keep this applicator in the refrigerator so that when I use it to apply the creme, it gives that extra coolness to the eyes. Do not undermine the applicator, it can be applied to pressure points around the eyes to sooth tiredness, ease tension and improve micro-circulation. The texture of the cream is rich, but does not leave the skin feel sticky or greasy and absorbs instantly into the skin leaving it feeling fresh and nourished. I also LOVE the smell of the cream. It is not a perfumed scent but rather a blend of natural ingredients and herbal fragrance.
I received this Intensive Eye Contour Cream as part of my Cle De Peau Illuminating Trio from their amazing team to try it out. I have to say that this became my favorite of all three. First of all, the word “contour” immediately draws my attention because my Asian genes leaves me with little or no definition around the eyes. Upon further reading that it dramatically transforms visible sagging, loss of firmness, dark circles, dullness and wrinkles while delivering powerful moisture I have to add it to my line up of eye care routines. Infused with star fruit leaf extract and brightening ingredient 4MSK the cream improve the appearance of darkness, dullness and discoloration.
Much like the LaMer eye cream, the Intensive Eye Contour Cream also comes with a specially designed beauty massage tool coated in pure platinum…YES PLATINUM BABY, that helps increase surface circulation during massage and improve overall tone for more well-defined eye contour areas. I keep this tool in the fridge as well to deliver the extra cooling sensation. The texture of the cream is rich and ultra-creamy but also non-greasy and melts into skin like butter. I have been using it not only around my eyes but also around my cheekbone area in hopes that it will also give my cheekbones some extra definition and contouring results. The only negative thing I can say about this is the steep price tag, but you do get what you pay for and $260 is a small amount compared to a visit to Dr. 90201 right?
I received this as a part of the Cold Plasma+ set from the brand to try, you can read my review about the Cold Plasma+ Face HERE at your leisure as we will be focusing on the eye cream today. The product is relatively new compared to some of the other brands and it is part of the “improved” formula for the Cold Plasma line. This Cold Plasma+ Eye cream has a lighter texture, almost gel-like against the skin and does provide a cooling sensation to sooth the skin. I love the Perricone MD brand and many of their products but I also want to give you guys my honest and unbiased opinion based on personal use.
Real Talk: if you are looking for anti-aging or wrinkle reducing, this is not your cup of tea. I don’t think the richness is there to improve the collagen growth or treat fine lines. But if your problem is dark circles and puffiness and you want something that calms the skin around the eyes, then this is a good cream for you to try it out. The old Cold Plasma formula had a scent that was off putting to many users, but I think the new formula really improved on that because I didn’t notice any unpleasant scent at all.
Before I review this eye treatment, I feel that I need to introduce the brand Elemis first as many of my readers may not even be aware of it. Elemis is the #1 Luxury Skincare Brand in the UK. Elemis formulates innovative skin care solutions from many plant and marine based ingredients. It’s hero Pro-Collagen line is developed with powerful, ethically sourced marine- and plant-based ingredients all over the world. I got this eye treatment as part of their Pro-Collagen Anti-Aging Skincare Introductory Set and have been using it in between my other products.
The Pro-Collagen Advanced Eye Treatment is not a cream, but a liquid serum. I would use this product after toner and essence but before my evening cream. This eye treatment targets the fine lines and wrinkles around the delicate eye area with super active Padina Pavonica and Blue Flower Linseed help tone and firm, while a sophisticated Amino Acid complex attracts and locks moisture. Overall, I think its a nice boost of collagen, to use as a base for your eye regime, but I wouldn’t use it alone. Like the Plasma+ I don’t think the consistency is rich or hydrating enough for treating existing lines, but it can be a great prevention product for younger audiences. If you want an instant line eraser, I would suggest the Pro-Collagen Hydra Gel Eye Masks, LOVE IT!
Now, some creams and serums in a Tube!!
I have used numerous Dermalogica products but none specific for the eyes so I was very excited to try the Stress Positive Eye Lift after reading rave reviews about it on line. It is an active, cooling cream-gel masque that energizes skin to reduce visible signs of stress. It also can minimizes the appearance of puffiness and dark circles, increases skin luminosity, lifts the eye area and helps restore skin barrier integrity. What draws me to this product is when I read that it contains fermented yeast and a unique Hyaluronic Acid blend that firms skin and help generate a lifting effect. Any product with Hyaluronic Acid at my age deserves some attention.
So first thing I notice is that the product comes with a metal applicator tip built-in to dispense the cream. I find this metal tip both a blessing and a curse. I love the cooling sensation it provides while applying the cream, however, it can also make the application process a bit messy. As I push the products around, I can feel the excess gets close to my eye lines and some even got in by my clumsy hands. So I started to use the applicator initially and finish off with patting in the cream with my ring fingers. The cream itself is a nice light texture that is not greasy or overbearing and gets absorbed quickly into the skin. I don’t see that much of a difference in terms of the “lifting effect” after use, however the friendly price tag of $68 makes it a good option to try as results differ based on individuals.
You’ve all read my rave review of the Flavo-C Ultraglican Ampoulets form ISDIN, if you haven’t it is right HERE. ISDIN is a Spanish brand and the K-Ox Eyes is a complete eye contour solution with three ingredients that reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles resulting in a fresh look. What are these three key ingredients? Vitamin K Oxide, Haloxyl™ and Eyeliss™. Vitamin K-Oxide: The most active form of Vitamin K that, with a faster action and more stability to light and heat, regulates blood clotting. Haloxyl: A combination of matrikines and flavonoids that target dark circles. Eyeliss: A combination of Hesperidin, Dipeptide and Lipopeptide that target puffiness providing an immediate calming effect.
Together they work to strengthen capillaries and constrict the amount of blood flow to the area around the eye, ultimately tightening skin and reducing the appearance of under-eye puffiness and dark circles. It also contains 0.05% Hyaluronic Acid (read above for my thoughts on Hyaluronic Acid) which is a big bonus. If you have dark circles that is very pigmented and almost look like a bruise, then this product will be a DREAM for you. It is not as visible on my eyes as dark circle is not one of my primary concern, but I can see this be a hero product for those suffering from intense dark circle problems.
Origin – No Puffery
If you suffer from puffy eyes like I do then you need to have this in your vanity! I have been using this for years and it goes where I go. This product literally saves my eyes instantly from puffery. I love the cooling feeling of the gel and the rolling applicator and of course I keep it in the fridge to keep it even more cool (I swear, I use my fridge for normal storage too). The ingredients contains yeast extract instantly helps de-pouf puffs as it brightens dark circles, while Hoelen mushroom extract calms skin to keep visible redness away. It also has cucumber and caffeine to speed up the process of settling the puffiness. The $28 is also very friendly and the product last forever!
