I received the mini NuFace during holidays last year and began using them (albeit intermittently) and I want to share some thoughts and reviews on it for those that are interested in considering purchasing one. Prior to getting one for myself, a friend from High School has introduced me to the device and claimed that NuFACE has taken years off and helps lifting the face. This makes me really intrigued because she was an RN and when someone has a medical background recommend a product, I usually give it more credibility. So let’s get to today’s Posh Mom Beauty Review.
WHAT IT IS AND HOW IT WORKS
NuFACE is a handheld device that uses microcurrents (cleared by the FDA) for facial stimulation. The microcurrents are said to tone and sculpt the face with consistent and continual use. The most popular treatment done by most NuFace users is the 5-Minute Facelift which claims to improve facial contour, skin tone, and wrinkle reduction across the jawline, cheek area and forehead.
On both Sephora and Nordstrom for NuFace, the reviews were mainly positive, with most users validating the product claims to improve facial appearance especially in conturing, lifting and minimizing wrinkles. The device is advertised as “Toning” and not wrinkle reducing permanently so it does has its limitations as to how effective and long lasting the treatments are.
HOW TO USE IT
-Each treatment should last five to 20 minutes.
-Use the NuFACE Device at least five times a week, for the first 90 days. After that, use two to three times a week to maintain results.
-Start by washing your face with an oil-free cleanser. Men should shave before use as hair can interfere with the conductivity.
-Glide along the natural contours of your face, in an upward motion. Each glide should last five seconds.
-Repeat three times.
-Remove the NuFACE Primer with a warm, damp washcloth.
-Apply your favorite NuFACE Serum (optional) and preferred moisturizer.
Posh Mom Tip: When the NuFACE gel runs out, aloe vera is a much less expensive but equally effective option.
HERE IS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
The device is very simple to use and cleaning process is extremely easy. There is no pain, but in areas where there is little or no gel (near the hairline), the micro-current gives that little Zap ever so slightly. I didn’t follow the instruction to use the product 5 days straight in the beginning. It was on and off intermittently (when I have time) so the result wasn’t too prominent or noticeable. Week 3 is when I started the device more regularly and I see subtle but marked improvement. My cheeks seemed more sculpted, and overall my face looked firmer. The downside is that this takes a lot of dedication and consistency. When you don’t use the device for a few days, the “training” stops and so does the result.
I like to use the device for about 20 minmutes before bedtime, two five minute sessions on each side and also for another 5 minutes during the day when I wake up and when my face is the puffiest. It works well in reducing swelling and sculpting those cheek bones. This product brought improvements to my face within 2-3 weeks, and I will continue to use it daily. If I had it to do over, I would possibly get the NuFACE Trinity which allows for advanced treatments with adjustable power levels although the mini one is perfect for travelling. Also, I am not sure how much of this result is affected by my Forma treatment which also has a lifting benefit from the facial I have been doing in January. Now that I’ve stopped Forma facial, I will continue to try NuFace alone and let you guys know the results.
I hope this helps if you’ve been thinking about purchasing a NuFACE. If you give it a try, please let me know if it works for you. Do you have or use one already?
