As bloggers, we follow other bloggers on Instagram, we visit their blog for inspirations and every once in a while we run into them at a mutual event. Let’s face it, in this competitive and increasingly saturated bloggersphere, bloggers are sometimes “frienemies” versus a comrade. When Lisa from Pretty Little Shoppers mentioned that she wanted to host a Blogger Movie Night at her house to get some local LA bloggers and influencers together, I jumped at the wonderful idea. I met Lisa and our other co-host Kali of In Spades Blog a year ago at Simply Stylist LA, we quickly became blogger friends on and off the social media platforms.
- Flowers by Playa Flowers
- Succulents by Playa Flowers
For our Blogger Movie Night, we invited a group of very interesting and diverse LA bloggers, actress and influencers who is interested in making more friends and putting the faces behind the Instagram handle. And of course, true to blogger fashion, we have sponsored champagne and wine bar sponsored by Stella Rosa and Diama Rose, delicious and healthy food catered by Lemonade LA who also provided their signature giant macarons for the dessert bar. BloomNation helped me find a local florist Playa Flowers who not only did all of the floral arrangement decors for the evening, but also generously provided each attendee with a succulents in a beautiful pot (gold, white or mixed) for our goodie bag! Those succulents were such a big hit, everyone was picking their favorite one before they left the party as if picking out their engagement rings. Hey, I wouldn’t blame them, what bona fide blogger doesn’t use a succulent or two for their #Flatlays??
We had a lavish dessert and candy bar set up with some classic movie candies and healthy popcorn alternatives from Lesser Evil, that is organic, non-GMO and transfat free and Lisa made delicious gluten free cookies for everyone to enjoy. I seriously cannot remember how much I have eaten that evening, but I sure had multiple servings of foods, drinks, sparkling and more desserts than I should have. I mean the next day I did both hot yoga AND walked 3 miles incline to work off all the calories.
As guests mingled and enjoyed the food, everyone seems to be having genuine, engaging conversations where they shared their blogging journey, personal life, tips and hardships and of course how much WORK it takes to be a blogger. I am so touched by all of the positive energy flowing in the room, all of the conversations were so interesting because we can all benefit from learning from each other. I am so happy that many bloggers made friends that evening, exchanged contact info to hang out after the event has ended. We also had a photo booth set up for everyone to take silly selfies and these are some of the fun moments captured.
Before we end the evening, each guest was given a goodie bag filled with SockerBit candies, Lesser Evil popcorn, Lemonade signature cookie, and mini bottle of Diama Rose to keep the party spirit going. Of course, everyone took home their favorite Succulent from Playa Flowers. This event was such a success and I really enjoyed hosting the Blogger Movie Night and my co-host and I are already concocting more events and gatherings. If you are a fellow LA blogger and influencer, please send me a DM and I would love to invite you to our future festivities.

Aw this looks like so much fun! I wish I knew more bloggers by me so I could do something like this 🙂 Hope you had an amazing time.
Awe I love this idea! What a great way to spend time together with like=minded gals, xo
Well, now I wish I was based in LA as Lisa did such a wonderful thing. I don’t consider my fellow bloggers as competition or even frenemies, I consider them colleagues and want to help out where I can and not the other way around which is so common… Instead I’d love to join a party where you connect with others and talk about the hardships of what we’re actually doing on a daily basis as no one else really can understand that. Wish I could attend one day 🙂

Wow, this is such a great idea to get a lot of fantastic bloggers together! I can totally see bloggers becoming “frenemies” since there are now so many people who do the blogging thing. I would love to do a blogger get together like this with some bloggers in Tokyo – awesome way to meet new people 🙂 Lisa sounds like an amazing host!
Such an amazing event, I would love to be a part of it. It’s a pity that there are not many bloggers in my town so I can’t use this idea.
I agree, bloggers should support each other, because we all are in the same boat. I am so glad for you, it is very important to feel the connection and support from your “co-workers”

This is such a great idea! I was thinking of doing something like this in New York, but with blogger brunches or picnics. I love when bloggers get together and support each other, it’s such a great community!
It must have been so amazing! I would love to attend a blogger meet up where I live, but we are all scattered through the country! Anyway, I love how you planned the night and the best foodie sponsors were carefully chosen. Love, Valeria
This is so cute but did you guys actually watch a movie?! LOL or is the idea more that it was a ‘movie theme’ night?
xo Jules
Wow what a fun event! I love when bloggers support each other and get together to talk about the real struggles and joys of blogging. It sounds like you guys had a ton of fun. That catered food looked so good and all the treats looked delicious as well!! I’m hungry now. 🙂

I’ve only been to 1 local blogger event and it was nothing extravagant like this. I do wish some bloggers weren’t so snobbish and competitive like I’ve seen around locally. You ladies seem like friends IRL! Wish I was closer to L.A.

What a fun looking event! It’s so lovely seeing events like these that show bloggers can be supportive and genuinely friendly to other bloggers. It’s true that blogging is very competitive and there are bloggers out there that aren’t kind to other bloggers, which is very sad, but as you’ve just shown that is not always the case 🙂
You ladies blogger movie night looks and sounded amazing.
omg this looks like so much fun! what a great idea babe!
