From Thanksgiving to Christmas, the holiday party season is here! I have partnered with Chanel to create a glam holiday makeup that is subtle yet make you stand out without looking like you are trying too hard. Most of you guys already know that I like to keep a minimal style with mostly neutrals and a pop of color and that is no exception when it comes to makeup as well. I like to use neutral colors on my eyes and my go-to lip color is always a bright red lipstick so let’s take a look to see what I did to create the makeup.
Starting with a clean face, I applied my usual foundation and started working on my eyes first. I used Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in (#226 Tisse Essentiel) it is the perfect palette of light matte neutrals and dramatic smoky grays with a hint of shimmer. Since the palette is ombre, I used the light beige shade on my eye lids and the slightly darker greige on the crease of my lids, blend well. I then took a finer brush and dip it into the dark gray shade and apply it to as close to my lash as possible (almost like an eyeliner) for both top and bottom lids and wing it out slightly. Using the same brush, I apply the lighter brown shimmer over the dark gray to give it a more highlight. Finally fill in the space with my trusty black eyeliner. For the lashes, I applied the Chanel Nourishing Mascara Base to prime the lashes by building and strengthening them and then apply the Le Volume Mascara (wearing 1o Noir here).
Now that the eyes are done, I move on to lipsticks. My favorite lipstick has got to be the Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color. I have it in many shades, mostly the red and orange tones and recently acquainted with the Pirate color (#99). It is a rich, deep red color, highly pigmented and doesn’t dry out the lips. It produces a very glam and sensual look when you apply it directly, however if you layer the lipstick with the Rouge Coco Gloss, the result is a high shine, statement, editorial pout. I did a swatch sample you can see below for the difference.
Of course, a holiday look is not complete without some beautiful matching nails. Everyone is familiar with Le Vernis, Chanel’s signature nail lacquer. I don’t know what it is, but Chanel always manage to have the most beautiful nail colors that everyone loves. The iconic Ballerina is perhaps one that every bride uses and the Rouge Noir is always selling out. I vividly remember trolling eBay trying to hunt down the elusive Cosmic because it is close to impossible to get. For a dark burgundy red, I like Pirate (#99) which is that perfect blend of red and magenta that doesn’t look too purple or too red.
I hope this simple holiday glam makeup tutorial is helpful to you. I like keeping my eye makeup subtle to accentuate that bright red lips for that dramatic effect. I will list all the makeup I used below for reference. If you like this makeup, please leave me a comment below or if you have suggestion on what you think can make this look even better also let me know, I love your feedbacks!
