Hello Monday! Anyone else feel me on an utter fatigue of the overload of Coachella Snapchats? I’ve even don on the fake flower crown filter and did a few Snaps (probably as close to Coachella as I get) but I’m kinda over it. Blame it on media overexposure. Originally I had another outfit post planned, but to my true fashion, I’ve decided to do an outfit post that is the polar opposite of Coachealla, as far from it as you can get and I’m sure you can guess from the title of this post it is my personal homage to the one and only, my style Icon, my imaginary mentor, my soul/sole mate – Mademoiselle Coco Chanel. I know, I can be a bit of a style extremist.
Fun fact: Did you know that the Chanel Suit was one of the first to borrow from menswear for women’s attire when Coco Chanel created her iconic suits consisting of a collarless boxy wool jacket with braid trim, fitted sleeves and metallic embellished buttons. The designer also was credited for making the trousers a fashion item. One of my fashion wishlist would be to own a Chanel Suit, although the steep price tag keeps me at bay, a girl can still dream. A few years back, I found a tweed jacket in a Korean clothing store that resembles the ever so iconic Chanel tweed jacket so I snatched it up without any hesitation. I’ve since worn it to work for many occasions and have received countless praises every time I wear it. But as the life of a SAHM, this beautiful jacket remained on the rack until I did some spring re-org in my closet.
Let’s talk about why I call this outfit the Modern Coco. We know that Coco Chanel pairs her tweed jacket with slimline skirts, but these days, fashionistas have been wearing it with ripped jeans and heels for a more Hip flare. I saw one day on my Instafeed a post by Hallie from Hallie Daily a pair of flared bell hem trousers; I was instantly obsessed and have to have it. Of course it was #soldout, but luck will have me that I stopped by my local Neiman Marcus for their Spring Trends event and saw the exact pair in my size!!! It was from the brand Elizabeth and James, have you heard of it? It is the high end line established by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and you can check out more amazing current season items HERE. So I wanted to pair this amazing trouser with my tweed jacket for a more modernized feel, as if Coco had updated the trousers herself.
Finally, what is a homage without the proper pair of shoes and bag? My favorite pair of shoes from my entire shoe collection, the loafer with pearl details on the heels as well as the first Chanel bag I bought for myself on my 25th birthday! This bag came with a history, it was purchased on eBay for only $350 back in the day. Though not in mint condition, I spent $150 taking it to the Chanel authorized bag repair and cleaning shop for a new dye and deep cleaning and it was almost like new. Although I have acquired many more Chanel pieces, it is still my go to bag for high tea or a summer soiree, best $500 spent evrrrrr. I highly recommend girls on a budget but really want to own an investment piece to check out pre-owned pieces.
Hope you think my little black and white tweed jacket and flared hem trouser outfit did justice to represent a slightly more modernized look to the original Coco Chanel suit. I am still saving up for the ultimate, real Coco Chanel jacket, but until it happens, this little tweedy would do just fine.

This outfit is definitely very Coco – chic tweedy blazer, white Chanel Accessories, blouse with the added bow and those amazing flared bell-bottoms which I love. So modern, classic and elegant. I rather see and way much prefer styles like this than Coachella any day. I am hoping and praying my local H&M still has this top cause I love it. And a little tip, you can find beautiful Chanel-inspired, very well made jackets at White House Black Market every Fall and Winter. =)
Please don’t forget to link up this beautiful outfit and any latest looks with me this upcoming Thursday. Thanks, Ada.

This outfit is just perfection from head to toe!! I went to the first Coachella so many years ago and while I had a lot of fun, it was not the best experience. I remember being hot, hot, hot, thirsty, thirsty and feeling so dirty in dirt all day.
Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next week. Have a great weekend!

You’re adorable! I love Elizabeth and James and this Chanel inspired look. The story about the bag is super cute and I completely agree- the BEST WAY to spend $500!!!! I need to get a Chanel bag, but I’m not ready to invest in new $3,000+) and pre-owned scares me! I’m so glad you had a good experience though!! Such a cute purse!!!!
