Every once in a while I get to stay at a resort that completely pampers you in every single way and leaves you feeling like you are at home, with all the extra help you can get so that life as you know is is back to pre-kids and oh-so fabulous. That was the feeling I got after I stayed at Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara during our summer family vacation to San Diego. To be quite honest, prior to this trip I didn’t even know that there was a Four Seasons in San Diego, but I can assure you that it is one of the best kept secrets of the surrounding neighborhoods and I’m feeling slightly reluctant to share this secret. Of course, I will not deprive my loyal readers a great find so I’m sharing this secret regardless.
Tucked away in a very residential part of Carlsbad north of San Diego, resides the Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara a truly unique vacation home graced by the finest year-round climate that Southern California can offer. With classic and elegantly styled Spanish Colonial Villas through out, and spacious guest rooms for those traveling solo, there is a little haven for everyone who comes to seek peace and quiet from the stressful and bustling world. Here, you can play Arnold Palmer golf at the Aviara Golf Course (driven there by the resort’s private golf carts); indulge in the Season’s Restaurant for your dining pleasures or take walk around the Batiquitos Lagoon within the property for a sunset stroll. You will find whatever you need to reset your self and recharge.
Upon check in and escorted to our two bedroom villa on the golf cart, I quickly scoped out the layout of our rooms. Our party of 5 stayed at the two-bedroom villas with two master bedrooms, three bathroom, a full kitchen and an open living and dining area equipped with a full dining table. There were plenty of space for the whole family. There was also washer and dryer within the villa to make it more homey. We were greeted with personalized messages written on one of the bathroom mirrors welcoming the kids. They also got their own kids sized bathrobes which I thought was an incredibly smart and convenient amenity for the parents. Let me take you on a visual tour with my photos and you will get a sense of how spacious and airy the entire villa is and how calming it is to be here for extended stays. Let’s go!
Residence Club Services and Amenities include restaurants, spa, golf course and swimming pools – just steps from your Residence Club villa. Lying by a sun-splashed swimming pool is an essential part of the California lifestyle! As you relax on a comfortable chaise lounge, attentive staff members will offer complimentary bottled water, Evian spritzes, chilled towels and delicious icy treats. For those with toddlers, have no fear. Residence Club clubhouses include a large, free-form pool, with a nearby heated whirlpool and a separate children’s pool that is only a foot deep. Kids can safely splash around. Just look at how much fun Miss K and Aiden is having!
While you work up an appetite from splashing around the pool, take a break from the water for some fresh fish tacos, a blackberry jalapeño margarita or grilled cheese for the little ones – all enjoyed al-fresco around Summits Pool. Or dry off and sign up for one of the Experiences the hotel has to offer. Filled with natural light and modern beach-town charm, Seasons Restaurant is the culinary epicentre of the Residence Club, specializing in farm-to-table cuisine with an emphasis on local, seasonal ingredients. During our stay, I signed the entire family up for their signature CRAFT & CRUST event which is offered every Wednesday. We got hands on and creative as everyone from the two kids to my parents got to make our own fresh-baked specialty pizza from scratch and enjoy it on at the restaurant when it is done.
