Hi everyone! It is time for Midweek Inspo Linkup! I’m a day late for October’s Posh Mom Chats – A Featured Interview segment with a fellow mommy blogger, but better late than never right? Today’s featured blogger is someone who I’ve grown to admire as a blogger, and as a fellow mommy and me style influencer. She is an established digital media guru with over 70K followers across her various platforms. Posh Mom chats today with Sandy Chang, the sweet, talented and do it all mom behind Sandy a la Mode.
I first came across Sandy’s blog through linkups when I first started my own and wanting to meet more like minded mommy bloggers. Her daughter Vivian happens to be Miss K’s age (they are a month apart) and I loved how Sandy dressed her little girl in coordinating outfits. I also love that she shares candid, not so glamorous side of blogging as well as helpful tips and techniques with newbies like myself. I have benefited quite a lot from reading her tips. So without further ado, Posh Mom Chats with Sandy a la Mode!
Q: Please give a brief back ground on how long have you been blogging and what inspired or motivated you to start your blog?
I have been blogging for almost 7 years now. Right now it is a women and kid’s fashion and lifestyle blog, but it didn’t start out that way. I was motivated to start a blog after I just planned my wedding. I wanted to continue the fun, creative process and had even just gotten a DSLR camera and sewing machine so wanted to document my adventures in photography and sewing. I don’t really do much of either of those now, mostly fashion, it’s definitely evolved!
Q: I know I’ve read your candid post of “How Do You Do It All” but I am still super amazed that you are able to work full time, be a mom to 2 toddlers and also consistently post 2-3 times a week. How do you balance your time between all of these?
I love being busy. I thrive on being busy. And I don’t sleep… much. 😉
Q: I’ve been a huge fan of all your mommy and me styles with Vivian, honestly I think you two are the most stylish mommy duos I’ve seen. Vivian must have a super impressive closet. I know from my experiences with two, kids grow so fast and they totally can wear out an outfit within months. How do you deal with all the excess of clothes? Also, does Austin get jealous that his little sister gets all the social media exposure?
As Vivian is growing older (2 year old now), her clothes can last a bit longer than when she was a baby. I actually am in a lot of Facebook kid’s clothing resell groups and once we are done wearing a piece, I resell there to make some money back.. so spend on more clothes! And for Austin? He’s just like his dad, he doesn’t love getting his pictures taken very often, so no jealousy there!
Q: You have close to 70K followers across all of your social media platforms. It is so difficult for me to just manage Instagram. Do you have any advice/tips for managing all the platforms like Pinterest and Twitter and FB?
Every time I publish a blog post, I just make sure to amplify on all the other websites at least once too! I use Tailwind to manage pins, Meet Edgar to manage tweets and I plan time to schedule a bunch of Facebook posts to go up for the week at a time. Also, in my late night relaxing, I browse Facebook and real time share content I love too!
Q: You’ve mentioned on one of your blogging tips post to hire a Virtual Assistant or outsource some of the tedious details. What does that mean and how does it work? Do you have any recommendations on which companies to work with?
So… piggybacking on the last question, I actually do have someone that helps me with my Pinterest board. She does a lot of repinning and scheduling for me on Tailwind and it saves a lot of time for me. I’ve had people manage my Twitter and Facebook accounts before too, but currently don’t do that. I go back and forth testing out different VA services to make sure I am getting the most of the money I am paying them for. I just have a few friends that I can recommend, so if anyone is interested, let me know! 😉
Q: I had a rare peak at your house on one of the Instastory you’ve shared and it is filled with sponsored items and boxes I can’t even describe in words (…I’m actually filled with envy and awe at the same time lol). Where do you put all those things? What do you do with the piles of items you don’t really need/use everyday?
Hahahaha.. oh yea, my house is a mess. And we have a huge basement that doesn’t really get used besides my office.. and storage! So it’s been a great blogging basement. But actually, I BUY a lot of items and maybe only half of all the boxes and packages you see are actually sponsored. I buy a lot of clothes for myself or Vivian to complete our outfits or just because I love them and want to support small businesses! Again, I’ve been good about reselling items, going to places that will buy your used clothes for cheaper and donating! I just recently donated 15 bags of clothes and shoes!!
Finally, let’s play a little of “Would You Rather…”
- Twinning with Vivian or Austin? Twin with Vivian
- Wear OTK or Ankle booties? Ankle booties
- Cook a big holiday meal or Take out for a whole week? Take out.
- No makeup or Bad Hairday? Ohhh tough one.. prob bad hair day.
- Wear summer styles or winter styles? This is tough too! But I think I prefer Summer because I like the warm weather!
- Eat Ice Cream or Donuts only as desserts? Ice cream for sure!!! After all, my blog name is “Sandy” with some ice cream on the side. 😉
The most clicked on outfit from last week’s link up is Ada with her daugher Vivian in this popping green plaid dress, make sure to check out her blog.
