I know that velvet was a big trend last Fall/Winter, but heading into Spring I would like to see the trend continue. Sure the fabric itself is quite dense and heavy, however with proper styling you can make still create great looks with velvet sprinkled in. I love a Velvet Blazer on both men and women because it is so rich in color and texture. While you can certainly wear it wish button downs, I think it looks great dressed down as well.
For a lighter and more Spring feel, I am paring my velvet blazer with a lace trim satin cami, to offset the heaviness of the color and fabric but still keep maintain the luxe feel of the outfit with the satin material. Add the classic Medium Wash Skinny Jeans with a pair of high heels, I now have an elevated casual look. If velvet blazer is not your thing, you can always add a little touch of velvet with a crossbody bag. The Gucci Marmont is completely sold out in black velvet and back ordered until 11/2017 and it is no surprise that other designers soon picked up the trend. Rebecca Minkoff has a gorgeous bag that comes in black, burgundy and blush and only $175. I highly recommend picking it up.
