My dearest Miss K,
This post is for you as you are the inspiration for me to try to be a better mommy, a better person everyday. We did something special together this past Monday, our annual tradition of donation run to House of Ruth, the transitional mission and shelter for battered women and children. You do not remember our first trip as you were barely 6 month old and slept through most of it but you were there with me from start to finish. This time you were there, more present and aware of everything going on. First, I must apologize for taking you through parts of LA that were not so glitzy and glamorous and perhaps even sketchy and down right scary in your little eyes; I know you were afraid to be in this strange environment as your little hands clenched tightly around my neck and shirt while I carried you out of the car. But I am so proud of you for sticking it through with me and even letting go of your initial fear and eventually participate in giving away some of the things you still value and hold onto for familiar comfort.
You may not understand why mommy choose these little missions over the big and bright warehouse with shiny windows, I will explain to you when you grow a little older. For now, just know that I want to include you on these trips to let you experience compassion, learn about giving, and feeling grateful in your own capacity however small it may be. Like every parents, I want you to grow up in a world better than ours today, and even though recent headlines in the new and media may not suggest as such we should not focus on the negative. I want you to know that you and Aiden are both so lucky and fortunate, you have access to resources and material things more so than majority of the children in America and certainly way more than mommy and daddy’s age. Which is even more the reason to stay grounded and marvel at the advancing world. I hope that you remember these little journeys we go on and that you will remain loving, empathetic, kind and most of all feeling blessed!!
Mommy feels blessed every single day to have you and Aiden. You are the sunshine that warms me and brightens my day every morning; you are the force that drives me to try and make the world better, cleaner and safer; you are my inspirations today, tomorrow and everyday for as long as I shall live. You don’t know how proud I am today when I see you help me carry our donations, climbing the long stairs all on your own and finally studying the donation certificate intently with a genuine smile because you knew that you helped make a difference in someone else’s lives. My little Good Deed Kate, you beautiful little soul, I love you more than words can describe, stay kind and feel grateful.

What an inspiring post! It was wonderful that you could involve your daughter with your donation to such a worthy cause. I am sure that this will be a life lesson that she will be able to remember or at least look back on for the rest of her life. Thanks for hosting and sharing!

What a wonderful activity to do with your daughter!
I love her outfit! She looks so grown up…
What a beautiful, thoughtful, sweet, well-written post. I love what you wrote. Kate is great and such a stylish tot too. You need to include her in some mommy+me posts. It is important to teach our kids in a very young age the value of sharing, caring, gifting and giving to others. I have gathered a lot of Vivian’s toys and clothes and plan on giving them to a similar shelter, as I have done before.
Happy Hump Day Sheree!
She’s so adorbs!!!!
Check out the 1st installment of my festival style campaign with UK-brand BOOHOO at the blog – I’m sure you’ll love it!

What a beautiful, sweet post. I love that you’re including your little one in doing things like this–such an inspiration for me to get more involved too. Sometimes I think my son is too little to understand volunteering and charity, but thank you for the reminder that it’s never too early to get started. What a beautiful lesson you’re teaching your precious little girl (who is ADORABLE by the way!).
What a good reminder that it takes us all to help in every respect!

Doused In Pink
This is really sweet. Honestly. It touched my heart. I love that you wrote it as a letter to her, something she can look back on and read when she’s older and a way of you speaking to her so vulnerably. Beautiful. I’m really pleased you like helping and doing things like this too, we need more people like you in the world xx.
