Boy was I pampered this Mother’s Day!! I mean forget the gifts, the flowers…do you know what a mother of two really want for Mother’s Day?! An entire day alone, by herself, being pampered and treated like a queen and that is exactly what I got this past Mother’s Day weekend. Thanks to the generosity of Sofitel Beverly Hills, I was treated to a weekend staycation and experienced luxury and pampering at my disposal. I visited the So Spa and Le Salon, spent some alone time at the pool basking the California sun and woke up to delicious breakfast in bed by Esterel Restaurant. It was amazing to relax and recharge and well, just be alone.
My pampering journey began when I dropped off my car with valet and headed to the reception to check in. Every detail within the hotel exudes luxe and opulence with dramatic decor combined with urban hipster vibes. However, Sofitel Beverly Hills also pride itself on providing excellent customer service; every staff smiled with a warm welcome, there were cold beverage and welcome cocktail waiting at the reception. A concierge ready to assist with any guest’s requests from shopping guide to where to find the best sushi in town. I only packed a day’s worth of essentials in my Arlo Skye suitcase so I didn’t need any assistance going up to my room.
I arrived my king bed room without much expectation and was pleasantly surprised by the clean and fresh decor. The So Bed looked oh so inviting and plush (I seriously never want to leave it…but more on that later) and the bathroom is stocked with lavatory from Lavin along with a plush bathrobe. And my view of the Hollywood hills with the Hollywood sign in the distant mountain was icing on the cake. Since I wanted to visit the Spa, I quickly changed into my plush robe and headed down stairs.
The Spa, Fitness Center, Salon and pool is located on the west wing of the hotel. The SoSPA uses environmentally inspired body and beauty treatments to help soothe the weary physique. The tranquil lounge is stocked with tea and light snack for when you are waiting for treatments or post treatments relaxation. There is also locker and shower to freshen up. I have a personal pet peeve and that is the post massage oily hair. While it felt so good to get scalp massaged, I really dislike walking around with greasy hair after a massage. Thankfully there is Le Salon that offers a fresh blow out and styling and oily massage hair be gone! Can we all take a moment to soak in how incredibly cute the outdoor garden at Le Salon is?! Tres Chic!
Now that I am properly freshen up and the warm sun is calling my name, it is only natural that I pay a visit to the hotel’s pool and bask myself in that Cali sunshine! The pool is located on the second level of the hotel and surrounded by the luxury shopping destination Beverly Center and the Cedar Sinai Hospital new patient wing (I gave both birth there and was a sweet reminder of motherhood). I am more a poolside lounger rather than one that takes a dip in the water, so I just frolicked around until I was ready to head back to my room.
After getting back to my room and changed, I wanted to see one of the 26 suites Sofitel Beverly Hills have and luckily there is only one room available for me to take a peek as the entire hotel was booked solid for the Mother’s Day weekend including the two Imperial Suites. The suites is located on the penthouse level and offers a unique living experience with art-decco style decor and furnishings. I liked the sloped walls and sheer drapes which is very reminiscent of the Parisian penthouse style.
So my Insta followers must have seen my clip where I said that I had a complete mommy moment and decided to head home and put my kids down for bed time. Yes, I am that sap who couldn’t even let myself relax fully while on Staycation. But I was happy to bathe, read and sing to my two angels for bedtime routine and then headed back to the hotel to enjoy my So Bed. I was seriously looking forward to a great night of sleep, waking up naturally and not by the sound of “mommy I want to play” or “mommy I have to go poo poo”. It was such a wonderful night of sleep, had it not been the breakfast delivery, I almost didn’t want to get out of the bed.
The breakfast was provided by Esterels with coffee, freshly squeezed OJ, a smooth shot along with Belgium waffle and a bowl of fresh berries. The waffle was fluffy soft with sweet cream and berry compote and I cleaned plate even though I have a surprise Mother’s Day brunch arranged by the hubby and kids waiting for me. Even though the Staycation was only a day, and I cheated by going home to put the kids down for bed, I still felt super pampered and really indulged in the personal time that is super rare for moms.
Being a full time mom is stressful, we are needed almost 24/7 and a moment alone is worth a thousand times more than a bouquet of flowers or an expensive dinner out. So rather than spending on the perishables, I HIGHLY recommend saving that money and give a mom the gift she needs which is time of her own to do whatever her hearts desire. Let her have a great night of sleep uninterrupted, indulge her in waking up naturally (god knows the last time she’s had that). Treat her to a day of staycation at a local luxury hotel such as Sofitel Beverly Hills so she can really get the pampering and unwinding she desreves.
HUGE thanks to Sofitel Beverly Hills for having me, it has been such a pleasure staying and enjoying your facility. I am definitely coming back for more in the near future.
