“Real fashion change comes from real changes in real life. Everything else is just decoration.” ~ Tom Ford
Take a look into your closet, I mean deep into your closet, what have you kept from 3 years ago? 5 years? Perhaps even older, from the collegiate days? Every once in a while I do a closet cleaning and find things that I used to wear and nostalgia takes me down the moments when I last wore those pieces and I think to myself “wow, I’ve come a long way from this”.
I wish I could still fit into the itsy bitsy little number that was once my party staple, or the beautiful button down that I wore to a winning interview but the truth is I may never go back to the same body I once had and I’m fine with it. After the arrival of my two angel babies I now default to more stylish flats than sky-high heels, more loose comfy silhouette versus body-con second skin. To me, those are mere fashion choices, as my core basic style still holds true. I still love simple clean lines, favor monochrome over floral prints, prefers pops of color in my accessories and splurge on a pair of designer shoes per my style icon Coco Chanel’s sage advice “A woman with good shoes is never ugly.”
You learn so much about your body after two pregnancies. Through the changes inside and out, I know what style looks good on me and what trend I should avoid no matter how popular it is. I know who I am as a women, a mother and how I want to present myself. I started this entry with a quote from Tom Ford, real changes in real life drives the change in fashion, so as my life continues to change and evolve, I look forward to the changes in my fashion, and reflect my style-telling through my blog. We shouldn’t be afraid to make changes in our fashion choices, but who we are stylistically should be true to ourselves. Ending this post with a little food for thought from another fearless fashion icon:
“Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live.” ~ Gianni Versace

So gorgeous…blue for days. I love the skirt and the design on the blouse….then your heels just have me staring, so cute.
I agree with you, trends aren’t everything. Ladies should learn to wear whatever works for them best whether it’s trending or not.
You just made me remember that I still wear some of my sweaters from childhood…*hides face*. I wonder how you clean up your closet…am so attached to all my clothes.

So many high heel shoes, yet my day to day are flats! I love your blue skirt in this post; it is very stylish and the color is such a pop. I am still saving for my very own Christian Louboutin.
