With summer sneaking up on us, I have noticed the trend of an increasing linen summer clothes. Linen fabric has many attractive properties and this summer linen tunics, dresses, linen shirts or blouses are great while travelling and/or in hot and humid climate. The reason why it is a great option for warm weather is that linen is a “stiff” fabric and is less likely to cling to the skin; when it billows away, it quickly dries out and becomes cool again.
Thanks to the weave and linen fiber specifics linen fabric allows more airflow and it’s structure means it stays away from your skin allowing better airflow over your body. Summer clothes made of linen possess high air permeability, which allows air to flow through the fabric easily and allows the body to breathe. I love a cute linen dress or top for my kids because the fabric keeps them cool and they also look super cute in the muted neutrals.
This is the kid’s last week of regular school before starting in summer school. I am planning a few trips in the summer and will make sure to pack some of these beautiful pieces. One of the reason I think linen deters people from purchasing is how easily it wrinkles. While it is very true that your fresh clean linen shirt is most likely to wilt and get all wrinkly within hours of putting it on. Here, how to bring it back to life in ten minutes (or less).
What you need: Access to a dryer, plus an ice cube
What you do: Toss your linen pants (or shirt or jacket) with the ice cube in the dryer on low. In ten minutes, all the wrinkles will be gone.
Why this works: As the ice melts, it lets off steam and creates its own de-wrinkling system in the process.
