Today is the first of March which means Spring is near!! It has been a long, rainy and gloomy winter in LA and I’m looking forward to warmer weather and shorter hems. The inspiration today is my Top 5 Spring Fashion Trends that you may have already begin to see and to kick start the changing of season and wardrobe, Shopbop is having their 5 day Buy More Save More Sale with code GOBIG17!! Without further ado, let’s get started with my top 5 trend watch.
Off The Shoulder with Exaggerated Sleeves: So long the simple OTS tops, this spring it is all about puffy sleeves, tiered sleeves, ruffle sleeves, bell sleeves, the works!! Volume and details and exaggeration will dominate in any the season. As if you haven’t already seen my love for the bell and puffy sleeves already, I’ll be continuing this trend in my personal wardrobe.
Embroidery Embroidery Embroidery: Ok this trend is not new, but it is still going strong. If you are not big on having embroidery all over, opt for subtle placements like the pocket or perhaps on the bow tie? This tie neck top is so cute with the little embroidery details and only $70.
Wide Leg Pants aka Culottes: It is back! Yes, this trend went away last season but is now back again as seen on the runway as well as the feed of streetstyle starlets. Tip for wearing this trend: for a casual look, wear a pair of sneakers, for a dressy look, a pair of strappy heels or mules to lengthen your leg. Petites? No problem, check out my petite guide to wear culottes HERE.
Seeing Stars: Stars is probably the biggest pattern theme I’ve seen this coming spring. From designers to private label, I see stars on tops, sweaters, dresses, rompers, pants, shoes to accessories. They are so cute and I cannot get enough of them. While I was shopping at Saks the other day, I counted at least 4 big name designers with star patterns on their boots, heels, sneakers and espadrilles. If you are not seeing stars by the end of Spring, you need to get out more.
Pastel Lace Up Ballerinas: This one may be an obvious choice too as ballerinas aren’t new on the market. But combined with the super feminine pastel colors and the ever so popular lace up flats trend, this shoe style is the go-to for any fashionistas who wants to put a little “spring” in their steps!
