Summer is FINALLY here…This past weekend LA and surround cities have hit record heat. Temperature as high as 120F and not a breeze in the air. I was beginning to believe that we live on some tropical land with lots of humidity and tall coconut trees. When life give you heat waves, you dress accordingly to stay cool and sane and that is exactly what I did.
I am not sure whether you guys have noticed or not, I have been wearing so many crop tops as of late this summer. From the cute polkadot ones to the simple ruffle crop top that ties in the back like this one from Only Hearts, crop tops have become my summer staple. Yes, I am quite aware that woman of certain age and above should not be wearing crop tops but I have also mentioned in the past that there are ways to style the crop tops tastefully such that one looks more like a chic tourist in the tropics versus a tourist in Jersey Shore.
The key is to find a high waist bottom, in this case, my very beautiful and bright yellow maxi skirt with asymmetrical hem and ruched details on the front of the skirt. If you keep the waistline high, not only did the potentially belly dancer crisis is alleviated, you have also successfully made your legs and whole body proportion extremely lean and long. Adding the right tropical accessories such as a large wide brim hat to cover up the sun and a chic pair of slide on sandals and bamboo bag, I got myself an outfit perfect for the tropics. So is it hot and humid in your city? What are you guys doing to stay cool?
Thank you all for reading!
