When is EMF Radiation Dangerous?
Sunlight is actually good for us in healthy amounts, but what about some of the other types of EMF in our lives?
The things we have to look out for are EMFs that involve “high-energy radiation.” These are magnetic fields that operate on the high end of the frequency spectrum.
Rays that pose health risks are all on the high-end of this spectrum. We’re talking about x-rays, high-frequency UV rays, and gamma rays in most cases.
These high-frequency EMFs have the ability to ionize cells. That means they can change the nature of a cell by removing an electron, thereby “ionizing” that cell.
Extended contact with those rays can have a damaging impact on your genes. Your genes might mutate abnormally or even produce different forms of cancer.
Are You in Danger?
There are numerous sources of these rays that happen to be natural. There are also many man-made sources of ionizing radiation that we should be aware of.
Nuclear power is a strong source of EMFs, and most of our devices have the potential to contain damaging EMFs, although there are numerous regulatory agencies that monitor radiation levels.
Most of the time, you’re probably not exposed to seriously damaging EMFs. That isn’t to say that they don’t exist in our day-to-day lives, though. A single exposure to these fields won’t cause damage, but daily exposure could.
If you work in a place that’s constantly exposed to Gamma rays, for example, your genes might start to produce numerous adverse health effects.
How to Protect Yourself from EMFs
The first thing you can do is make sure that your home and place of work are free from ionizing radiation. Talk with your managers, inquire about the electrical machinery in your home, and stay vigilant to any changes that could involve radiation.
The next thing you can do is invest in EMF clothing. This is clothing that protects individuals from EMF rays. If you’re headed to an unfamiliar place that could be dangerous, it’s comforting to know that you’ve got a layer of protection between the radiation and your body.
Beyond those methods, it’s always wise to stay up on any news involving updates in EMF research.
